If you were part of the discussion on Global Issues education resources during the conference, you will know what this wiki is about.
If you were not part of the discussion, please read on.
During the weekend there was a discussion session on Global Issues Education Resource. Two key issues were identified by GIN Educators in Asia:
There are a lot of global issues resources (printed, online & training) being used by educators and schools in the region.
Not everybody knows how or where to access these resources.
An obvious gap was exposed. In true David Begbie fashion, we all agreed to close this gap by creating a free & open-source database that would connect available resources to the educators that need them.
"CLOSING THE GAP" ACTION PLAN
Request all educators to email in quality resources (websites, organization names, curriculum maps & docs, lesson plans, activities, power-points, book lists, publications, etc) that are powerful tools for global issues education. See attached notes from discussion that briefly outlines some "available" and "needed" resources. PLEASE EMAIL ANY AND ALL RESOURCES TO global.issues.educator@gmail.com
Form a steering committee of 6 educators to guide the development of a user-friendly "hub" / "database" that will be the holding space for these resources.
This summer, the JUMP! Foundation will provide interns to support the committee in condensing, sorting and compiling all the information, files and documents sent in.
A resources database to be put online or published for the start of next school year.
Thank you to the following educators who have volunteered to sit on this steering committee:
